I have finally taken me some time to look through all of my old HQ Screenshots from before Patch 11, to re-enact as many of them as possible to show you all a direct comparison of this "forced" graphics decreasement we were all put into.

Why were the graphics reduced?

Everything began with Patch 10, which brought us the Smash Rifle.
Many players were complaining about heavy FPS lags in the forums, while most of them did not even have computers meeting the minimum system requirements to run S4. While i never had any FPS lags counting from Patch 1 - now (CB and Beta Included).

However, this whining about FPS lagging seemed to be so effective that alaplaya has decided to take away our\my beloved "High" graphics setting. And i'm about 100% sure that about 80% of those crybabies still have the same amount of FPS Lags now as they have had before Patch 11.

I've already written several tickets about the graphic issue, all being answered with "We'll forward it... blabla", yet after over 16 Patches, the old graphics setting is still not recovered.

I also had opened a thread about it, short after the graphics got decreased:

I can understand though, that alaplaya want the game to be able to be played on almost every computer, yet their solution of this problem is not acceptable in my opinion.
To simply drown those wonderful, vibrant and incredible graphics S4 League had to offer down the toilet...
typical alaplaya solution.

For me personally, an important part died together with the removal of the old High quality setting. the graphics were one of the main factors that have kept me so faszinated and bound to this game, like being binded a thousand times at once.

Like you can clearly see at the pictures further down on this thread, primarily the texture quality has been reduced. Also all shadow and light effects were downgraded to a minimum of their original quality.
With Patch 24 we've got a little part of the old High quality effects back, yet the only thing that was given to us were the old animations on the melee weapons and the shadow underneath your character.
Which is also probably the reason for some players to get those FPS drops, when using the special attacks of the melee weapons. (Even though i haven't encountered this problem myself yet)
My guess is that when they only give us a part of the old settings back, only a part of it will be fully functionally and the other one causes these "Bugs" some players are affected by.

Here are the comparison screenshots, the left(Patch 1-10) ones and also the right(Patch 11-now) ones were taken with the graphics setting on "High":
First of all i want to thank MuhKuhPowa and Raised, for helping me to re-enact the screenshots. This action has also cost us an quiet amount of PEN, just to buy the 1 day PEN-Clothe rentals to get this project finally done.

Because that's just the way i feel since they got rid of the old High graphics setting.

Hella had also stated the reduced graphics problem. I'd rather we keep the reduced graphics and take panamaman back.

Yeah, kinda dumb how they upped the requirements and reduced the graphics after patch 11 for the game.

Although it looks the same now (With 24x AA, 8x AF, and AAA as well as mipmap on maximum), just with 15fps ingame and 40fps in the lobby.

One more thing, Smash Rifle came in patch 9.

me and my GeForce GTX 580 approves of this thread and the true high graphics!

The 20th of July 2011 we mark the death of yet another part of S4 league as we say our goodbyes to the old user interface and Lobby room. Now nothing more but a memory remains.

I am not sure but wasn't the default graphics setting medium?
So these dumbshits set it to high and wondered why they got fps lags?
Oh my god...

My only problem back then was that my old graphics card simply wasn't able to produce the maximum mipmapping and shader effects. So medium and high setting was exactly the same to me.

Now I got my new card which can easyly produce graphics on par with a xbox 360 or PS3 and I am still stuck with medium!
God damn that's some fate...

Not only the max graphic quality is reduced but also the requirement for the low quality is raised.
Before patch 10 I played with 40-50 FPS average on low settings.
Now I playing with 20-30 FPS +random screen freezing for no reason.

They really should add more graphic settings. Not just low, med, high but also to turn on/off effects and independent of that texture quality settings and stuff. It is a shame this game is 3 years old and still have so limited graphic settings.

since you should not only consider the s***ty programmed titles, because there are some out there who actually make better use of the hardware than most poor coded no antialias low shader crap games.

not even the current generation of games for any of the two makes full use of the hardware cause they absolutely had to make it hard to use.
