Suggestion - New Mode: Fortress Mode [Discussion Thread]

Hey Bozzy here, and I was hoping for some community comments/suggestions for a new mode idea I've come up with. (apologies if someone already thought of this (Tweezal :3))

I bring you FORTRESS MODE!

Set in the Gear Factory, trouble is brewing in the world of S4 League. Here in this weapons production facility, people would desire to use the munitions crafted for selfish and evil deeds. Others would seek to destroy the factory forever.
It is up to YOU to decide the fate of the Gear Factory.


Mode Summary.
There are two sides, the attacking side and the defending side.

ATTACKERS - You spawn outside of the factory and you will have to destroy certain objectives to achieve victory, detailed in my map below.
Firstly, they must destroy the gate to the factory whilst fighting players on the defending side. Once the gate is destroyed, the attackers must move on to two seperate objectives that must be destroyed; these are The Production Line and The Furnace. Once these are destroyed, the attackers move on to a second gate which then leads to the Factory Core. Once this is destroyed, the attackers are victorious.

DEFENDERS - You spawn in the Core Room, and have the benefits of slightly shorter respawn timers BUT have shorter respawn invulnerability as well. Also you have the protective lazers to provide easy movement throughout the factory. Your goal is to defend the factory at all costs.
If the timer ticks down to 0 and the factory still stands, you win.

The Mode is set in two halves so that both Alpha and Beta have a shot at playing both sides. The health of the Objectives is decided by the length of the halves, shorter matches have weaker objectives whilst full length matches have tougher Objectives.

The winning sides get bonus EXP/PEN, so if you carry your team to victory in both halves, expect large rewards for your efforts.

Gear Factory

Gear Factory is styled like the current Iron Eyes maps with a very industrial feel. The map will need to be BIG and there will be plenty of obstacles etc. to provide a fast paced and action-packed experience. There will be high and low ground to benefit snipers and rushers alike.

New Map - Office - 2

Welcome to the Pentavision Office, which has been evacuated due to NetSphere hackers attempting to upload a virus into the S4 League world, something far more terrible than Daemon or Joker.
The defenders are the hackers, in the process of uploading this terrible Virus. The attackers are the heroes, who must stop the hackers.
First, the Heroes must destroy the Barricade the Hackers set-up. The heroes must then kill 2 Players selected at random, Hacker I and Hacker G, too very high health players armed with Forcepacks and Premium Costumes. After they have killed I and G, the Heroes must move on to bringing down a second barricade and killing the Chaser Virus (Parent Virus)

The Hackers: These players are automaticly selected when the Barricade falls, the match is paused for 30 seconds to give the players time to pick their equipment, once selected, the match will resume with all players beginning where they were paused except for hackers, who will spawn in two seperate server rooms. The hackers CANNOT go into the core room or they will be struck down by the protective lazers.

Due the nature of NPCs in S4 being terrible, there is very little scenery to block the path of the Virus and so the heroes will have to face the full power of the Parent Virus.

Interactive Scenery
To make the mode even more epic, I'm expanding on Shiki's installed weapons idea. Across the map there are interactive objects that can benefit a player's team or damage the enemy.

1. Earth Bomb Trap - On the map you may find a pile of discarded Earth Bombers. You can interact with these bombs to set a timer on them, ranging from 5 to 30 seconds depending on how long you hold down the 'Interact' button. Once the timer has ticked down, the bombs explode in a large blast radius dealing heavy damage to allies and foes alike nearby.

2. Gear Armour - A suit of armour made in the Gear Factory, when picked up will offer you a slight defense buff and reflect a percentage of damage dealt to you for a few seconds.

3. Armour Piercing Rounds - Bullets made in the Gear Factory, when picked up will make your attacks ignore defenses, whether they be +8 all weapons defense or +3 snipe defense.

4. eSper Charge - When interacted with, a large pulse of blue energy will be emitted, restoring full SP to nearby allies and draining nearby opponents SP by 50% of their max SP.


tl;dr
New mode - Defend a Base, Attack a Base, Profit

Looks like any other FPS multiplayer game mode called "objective" or whatever.

Nonetheless, the theme of the idea seems very very nice and the mode itself could be really fun. But I am really wondering if such a thing would pack out as I have the idea the attacker will always destroys such a thing rather fast. But I presume that ca be adjusted. But I do not know if this mode would work in s4 because of that.

And to be honest, I think it would die like some other modes, but I still would like to see this mode commin :3

The objectives would have a lot of HP, think of the parent virus and how long it takes to kill that with 4 people. Now think of that with 8 people, only the parent virus has 8 defenders but the virus itself cannot attack.
It'd take a little balancing but there would be a point of equilibrium where both sides have a fairly even chance of success.

Also take into account the weapons in S4, things like SMGs or Semi Rifle would naturally do very little damage to a huge metal structure like a Furnace, where as a Cannonade or HMG would damage it effectively. It may become a case of team composition where you have a 2 or 3 people devoted to destruction and the other attackers devoted to protecting the destroyers.

It will be fun..Penta can find a way that can make it Futurism right? o.o
But the Hp..Is Somehow Low... Cus i can defeat the P.V Alone in 5 mins...or 3

Hmm...perhaps the HP of the objectives rise as you progress. Like the first gate has P.V HP, then the next two objectives have 25% extra health compared to the first gate. Then the second gate has 50% more HP compared to the first gate and finally the core has double the HP of the first gate.

Yeah I know it would probably get Penta'd, but I'd still like to see it happen...plus I want credit for the idea and a nice payment for doing someone else's job :P

And we have LOCO for Dota...

The match would probably be longer than average purely for the reason people like high EXP/PEN rewards, plus having a long drawn out war with other people is always nice.
