The "new" hair style is called a pompadour pronounced pomp (as in pompous) a door, I know it from these two:

Ryunosuke Umemiya (shaman king)

Elvis Presley (old as hell musician)

Not as obvious, but if you look for wigs to cosplay as him, it's a lot more apparent.
