Shields tanks mercs

Did saw only 2 pure shield tanks. They seem to be not were popular here .What do u think about them?

I saw several 1h mercs, I usually am I tank but I decided to go for 2h this time. The main thing that deterred me from being 1h is that party exp is too low and its faster to solo.

I allways go with hi dmg chars.Diceted to go with tank this time.For know only good thing is that u can keep mob in stund for long time.But dmg wish is taken didnt make much diffrent form 2h merc.But maybe on higher levels they will show their good points.I only riched 17 so far

a tank is a party class, they cant deal much damage on their own. and cause there is no party bonus (atm?^^), most of the tank builds decided to take a 2HS.
but when you take a look at the shield skills at higher lvl they can surely be pretty nice tanks, with additional def/shield buffs even better.

//edit: i meant buffs by saints they have def increasing skills and even damage reflecting

they dont have buff.They have one passive shield def skill other are attack skills.And def skill is kinde crapy to 6def+4 each lv

That is quite a lot of defence but 2h mercs can get that aswell xD.
Maybe making shields upgradable would sort things out a little.

i was a real tank in the cb. with all the defensive skills and a 1h-sword with a shield. i was only lvl 20, because of two reasons. i couldnt lvl up so fast, because noone wanted to do party , cause of the party exp-bug and i lvled very slowly because of my low damage. but i hope, my build will be more popular in cb2 (hope they will fix the party exp). and although it was hard to play a tanker in the cb1 it was fun. i love having high hp and def
