Ive been watching some YouTube videos of rail gunners. One thing I noticed is that a lot used anchor. Aside from mobility I see no benefit in using anchor. Are there other benefits I am unaware of? Also when creating a rail fun centered set, I have in mind smg, rail, and a melee weapon. The three melee weapons I am comfortable with are the original three(cs,ps, bat). Of these cs is more defensive or invasive, ps is offensive and bat is defensive. Is there some criteria of which melee weapon to choose based on map? Or would using the one I am most comfortable with for all maps be okay?

This is so true.

Anchor can cancel rail animation, and it can bind the enemy so your team cough mob can do as they please to the unfortunate player

You can base your melee preference on comfort, although all of them can technically net you a goal based on their abilities
Just be careful that you aim your melee knockbacks away from the goal

I see. The reason I was asking is that I was seeing multiple scenarios, like cautioN using cs as melee wep in tunnel and either ps or bat in station-2. But then I saw that there were some snipers with ps that would go and score with the ps and anchor. So I figured that in order to have a good rail gumming set there must be an optimal weapon for every map.

(over 2 snipers on each team*)

You only hope that the snipers are good

For example, the ones that are capable of sniping the first jump in the process of rushing in St-2 can pretty much shut down using that wall to jump to the train
